Match the basis first

Check whether each price is per person or for the whole party, and which currency is used. Note the number of adults and children, room occupancy and travel dates. A lower price for quad occupancy is not a direct comparison with a double-room quote.

Compare the same trip length and city split. Different nights in Makkah and Madinah can change the accommodation total.

Write down inclusions and exclusions

List flights, accommodation, meals, visa services, airport transfers, intercity travel and ziyarat where applicable. An item is included only when the quote says so.

For each included service, check the detail. A transfer described as shared may differ from a private vehicle; hotel-only accommodation differs from a room with meals. Add any costs you will need to arrange separately.

Compare the conditions as well as the price

Ask how long the quote is valid and whether availability needs to be checked before confirmation. Review the payment recipient, deposit and balance dates, cancellation charges, refund conditions and any supplier terms.

Do not interpret an enquiry quote as a confirmed booking. Ask what written confirmation and travel documents you receive after the booking is completed.

A simple comparison worksheet

Use the same headings for each quote: dates, travellers, nights by city, hotel and room, meal basis, flights, visa service, transfers, extras, exclusions, total and conditions.

If one row is unclear, ask a question rather than assume the two offers match. The aim is a plan you understand and can discuss with your family, not simply the smallest number.
